Open a photo with a nice flower, if you want you can download my rose here to practice on.





Choose the Lasso tool with the settings above, untick the Smart lasso. Draw around the flower, you don't have to bother to get it clean. Double click and right click-convert to object and drag the flower to a white canvas. It now has a semi transparent outline. Activate the Lasso tool again and make the selection edge to 90 -100 depending on how much space you have. Draw again around the flower, you can go inside the previous line. No when you drag it to a new canvas again it should look something like this.



If you are satisfied with the image, go to Object/Trim Object, then to View/Show Baseimage, the background is now transparent. Save your misted image as UFO or PNG. Do not save as gif, then all your hard work is messed up.

I'm sure that there are tutorials on this effect on the net but this is how I make these misted objects.
